7/20/2007 PRO fee$ Well we revived our selves around 9:30 AM, and had our great breakfast that was provided with the room. Then it was time to put all of the bikes together. After that we made it to Reg. where I realized that there is a lot of extra fee$ involved with racing Pro. Like $10 more for entry fee$ and $90 more for a license that I am only gonna use a few more times this season. My bike was having rear brake problems so I took it to the brake guys, I care not to mention there name, where they kinda fixed it. And it started raining, wait continued to rain, just got harder and harder till it was time to go ride, in the MUD! Yep the course is gonna be tough but it is what a Super D should be, technical and fast! Didn't get much of a ride in cause of the rain so I waited till 7pm and took off for a 16 mile ride on the roads that kinda dried out, kinda. Proceeded strait to the shower, now I am writing this, now I am off to bed, cause I have to finish getting the Pro license thing figured out. 7/19/2007 Traveling All who travel know that traveling is well...tough, add a $6,000 bike into the mix and now its interesting. Oh wait Tyler, my traveling bud, also had 2 $6,000 bikes. So we arrive @ Ontario @ 11:30 PM and proceed to get checked in and well...it ends up costing us $185 extra due to weight and extra bags. Once we get everything to security they have me open my bike box so that they can completely go through it, ugg. 1st flight 12:55 AM I can't sleep 2nd flight 8:05 AM local time, sleep grand total of, umm 50 minutes. Arrive in Boston 1:30PM local time, with no rental car reserved, last time I do that. 6:00 PM local time finally got a rental car and now proceeding to West Dover, Vt.. 9:30 PM local time after checking out the DH and DS we check into the room, and pass out! 7/18/2007 Vermont and upgrades Well as some of you guys may have noticed, it now says Professional at the top of the page. Welp that is because I finally got up the nerve to upgrade. Thanks to everyone who has helped me achieve my goals and I hope and pray that you will stick with me while I continue! Well this evening is the start of a 2 week trip that includes the National Championships in Vt. and a stop in Wi to help Ron and Pua of Team Mata in there 24 National Championships. I am soo excited for the opportunity to help my good friends and hopefully help them win! Off to Vermont 7/8/2007 Racing in Mexico Great times driving down to Ensanada, B.C. Mexico, which included the drivers window breaking both Eric Carter and I winning and to say the least, an entertaining border crossing. EC let me borrow a DH bike for the race and let me tell you what, that great fun. A total disregard for my own life, just huck it was the motto of the day. That still sounds funny coming from me. It really was a great time though with some 6ft drops and a rather large 15ft road gap. By the end of the day I was doing both. Its amazing the abuse those bikes can take! Thanks for driving and letting me break in the new '08 DH bike EC! 7/5/2007 A crashing feeling Ever have that feeling where shortly before you are about to go down that...humm this is gonna suck. Yep that's definitely what happened to me today. So I was riding with Eric Carter today and we were having a great time blasting the downhill trails at Vail lake. Going back on the fire road I saw a little rain rut (must be from years ago;) that was only about 6 inches wide so I decided to pick up a little as apposed to just ride across it. That's when that oh crap feeling came over me, as soon as I finished rolling I looked up only to see EC limping around. Well I guess that as I was crashing he happened to look back and tried to stop but only was holding on with his left hand (front brake) and slipped into a rut. So the 2 of us limped around on the bike for a few minutes and then decided to call it a day. Sorry EC but I guess that is what happens when you ride with us XC guys. 7/3/2007 Hypnosis center As they say there is a first for everything. Well today I had a chance to get hypnotized by a professional. It was certainly an interesting experience. I would like to thank Lawrence Miller of the Hypnosis center for his time and expertise. So just to let you all know he took care of the problems that had been keeping me back, so for the late season charge look out here I come. Thanks again Lawrence. Feel free to contact him so that we can all go to the top! 6/15/2007 Crashing and winning So after yesterdays near disaster from my traveling buddy Tyler Wilson it was time for us to turn the weekend around, or so I thought. The day started off early so that we could make it to the resort for our practice times. So I got ready and grabbed the bike and took off for my practice runs. I took off and was having a great time on the Super D course till...it happened. I'll go back a little, I was borrowing a bike because of the problem that I was having with the brakes. So as I was riding I was noticing that the chain was skipping so I put the bike into another gear and continued. As I was crossing the face of the ski run the chain popped again and that when I found myself in the grass upside down with the blood rushing to my head. No biggie, I thought, Just get up and keep going. Humm that might be a little difficult with a broken stem. Time to bring back the running days. So after that little episode I went to First Aid and got the blood cleaned up and be on my way. So race time finally rolled around and it was go time. Wouln't you guess on my first pedal stroke that I was apparently not clipped in with my right foot, which made for an entertaining start to the Super D race, for everyone else. Well that race went ok I thought but I was not sure because I left for a DH run with my friend Themba. Themba and I got back from our run only to see that Tyler was killing it in the Dual Slalom. He finished in 2nd in the DS. Themba finished 10th in his first ever Super D. I Won the Super D. Good Job guys Looks like the weekend is coming around after all! 6/14/2007 Driving and Sleeping Well it was a long night of driving. Left Temec @ 9PM and arrived in Park City around 8 today. That was rough. I drove mostly throughout the night then Tyler took over @ the controls. I crawled into the back of my van and fell asleep on my couch. It was so awesome. While Tyler was off practicing his DH I discover a dilemma. Intense Was kind enough to send me into the weekend on the prototype 5.5 FRO, it is an awesome bike!! So back to the dilemma, uhh well... the brakes were reversed. Could be a problem because now my front brake is the rear and so on. So I called the all knowing Jason Ranoa of the 12 hrs of Temecula series on the eve of his next big race. He said just swap levers over so I did after having 2 bikes totally apart for parts, or so I hoped. 2/20/2007 Long time off the bike So it has been quite a while since I last updated this but honestly not a lot has happened. I was on crutches for 2 weeks and was not able to even get on the bike for another week. I do not recommend it to anyone that they crash on there knee cap because it is a terrible amount of pain. Finally got the jump initiating party out of the way this last Friday night. Thanks for all those who came out and I hope that you had as much fun as I did. A lot of work went into the jumps and it was very rewarding to Finally be able to ride them. Thanks to EC for letting me borrow his bike. The latest on sponsorship is actually the best thing and it sounds like Intense is putting together a factory Cross Country team. I will be apart of it which is great cause I have always wanted to "Officially" ride for Intense. Well now I am in Santa Cruz with my good buddy Todd and its been good except for the fact that my bike is broke. So I was able to get a part overnighted for tomorrow so hopefully I can get back out onto the trails tomorrow. I look forward to riding here and taking some Video for the web-site. 1/24/2007 Crashing and whining Today was going great, getting the jumps ready for the weekends build party, watching Faisst practice, till I went for a ride. Well actually that was going really well also till I got to the top of the climb at Simpson Park. That is were my helmet cam was deciding not to work. Not sure why, all was turned on but it was not recording. Bummer because I would of caught a good crash of myself on film as well as a large hole in my knee. Yep that's right I went off this rock that is notorious for sending riders over the bars and...well guess what. Yeah I went over, and landed on a rock that was shaped like a pyramid with my knee. Not fun! Well After picking my self up and looking at my knee I noticed that I was missing some skin, but not because I slid across it. Just landing strait on it. Well I guess that's enough info but it looks like I might have a couple of days off. I am still getting ready for the party on the 3rd and trying to get all of the jumps dialed in. Its killing me to see them all day but not ride them, yet. Soon, very soon. 1/13/2007 Cold and watering Well beside the ride that I went for with a friend of mine, Mike Cleveland, that is what I spent a lot of my day doing. That is because Dale and EC were off racing at Fontana. So its great fun to be watering dirt on a day were the high was just 45 degrees. I know I am a Cali. wuss, but that's how it is. So then I got on the lawn tractor and packed it all in some more and I tell you what its starting to really look good! Well yesterday I went and got a helmet cam so that I can get all of my cool crashes on film. Well its actually a memory card but its all the same when you get to see them. I will be posting some as soon as I get some good footage, and hopefully less of the crashing. It was a good ride and cool catching up with a high school friend. He is doing BMX dirt jumping in the X Games and Dew Tour. He has been doing a lot of training on the road bike and its obvious he is quite good at it. He will be doing a 100 mile ride in a month so that will definitely be good for his fitness. In the mean time we might be getting another tractor for next week so that we can speed up the process on the track. I am also going to be putting up more lights and speakers for some tunes. Its going to be tons of fun!!! 1/9/2007 Putting up lights
Well today was a short day of building but we still got a lot done. Dale and I dialed in two more jumps. After it got dark I pulled out the flood lights and extension cords. I was trial fitting for the party that we have coming up. FMX super star Ronnie Faisst came over and scouted it all out today and seemed to like what he saw. Like most I just cannot wait to ride it. It is supposed to rain on Thurs/Fri but we will see. It would be great for everything to get some water on it but it would also be cool to get the skid-steer out here so that we can finish dialing everything in before the rains come. Tomorrow is supposed to be an "off day" from building so it will be nice but I would like to get this going so who knows I just might work on it a little. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1/7/2007 More work in the dirt Here are some of todays pics from the yard. We have all been doing a lot of work and it is finally starting coming together. Today I mainly was packing things down and keeping water on it. I am getting really excited to ride it. I am that within the next couple of days we should be able to start riding. That is if I get a bike. I guess that I should focus on that. Also the BIG plans are starting to come together for a party on my birthday weekend for a HUGE jam fest. I am planning on renting lights and inviting everyone I know over to ride and hang out. Let me know if you are interested in coming out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1/6/2007 Thanks to the build crew It was suprising to see that today the tractor was still here. The rental yard was supposed to pick it up on Thurs but didn't. So what else was there to do then get on it and use the remaining hours till they do pick it up. Well shortly after I got on the tractor Eric Carter, Dale Holmes Gabby, Robert all showed up to help out. Thanks Guys!!! We got a lot done but once again EC jumped on the tractor and worked his magic. It is amazing to see how he flows everything together to make it all flow well. Gabby, Robert and Dale and myself all got out the shovels and started shaping everything out. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1/5/2007 Cousin Kim's Wedding Today was Kim's Wedding day and I was lucky enough to be a groomsman for Chris, her Husband. It was a great time and I met some great people. It was nice to get a way from the work at home for a day and get all dressed up in a tux and be in Santa Barbra. Congrats KIM and CHRIS!!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1/4/2007 Birthdays and driving Well I guess that was not all of it, but just the important parts. Today is my good friend Todd's Birthday. Happy Birthday dude. I am so jealous of him cause he just moved to Santa Cruz to go to school. That place has some of the best riding that I have ever done! Congrats bud!!! Well EC came out early this morning so that we could work on the tractor a little bit more before the rental yard takes it back. So we moved more dirt till I had to leave for Santa Barbra for my cousins wedding. Actually I left cause I had to get on the road and EC stayed and kept building. Can't wait to see what it looks like when I get back. Thanks EC! Today was the rehearsal for the wedding which went well and after that we all got to go to El Torito for dinner. Good times! friends, old and new and good food. Can't wait till tomorrow. |
